Mrs. Jane Eshouse Dies at 85
Mrs. Jane Eshouse, 85, longtime Estherville resident, died at 8:35 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital of a coronary condition. She had been in failing health since last September and had been hospitalized since Dec. 28, 1961.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville, the Rev. W.H. Discher officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home from Sunday afternoon until 9:00 a.m. Monday at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the time of services.
Mrs. Eshouse was born Oct. 31, 1876, in Wormer, Holland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Hulsman. She received her education in Holland. On Sept. 9, 1901, she was married to James Eshouse at Wormerveer, Holland. The couple came to the United States in 1902 and lived in Beaver Falls and Morton, Minn., Spencer, Gowrie, Fort Dodge and Rippey, before moving to Estherville in 1906. Mr. Eshouse was employed here by the M. and St. L. Railroad.
Mrs. Eshouse was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies’ Aid and Four Mile Lake Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Louise DeWall of Estherville, four grandsons, two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Her parents; husband; a son, John; daughter, Jane, and one sister preceded her in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 6, 1962)
