Estherville – Services for Bennet (Bennie) Edward Elwell, 77, Estherville, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Robert Kunz officiating. Burial with full military graveside rites by the Estherville VFW and American Legion Posts will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1986 at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, at 103 North Ninth Street in Estherville.
He was born Aug. 8, 1908 in Titonka to Milo and Iva (Isenberger) Elwell and received his education in Estherville schools. He moved to Estherville with his family as a young boy and lived and worked in Estherville the rest of his life. On Aug. 25, 1947 he was united in marriage with Grace Brown at Spirit Lake. He served in the Air Force during World War One [Two], and was a member of the First Christian church and Estherville VFW Post 3388.
Survivors include his wife Grace, Estherville; one son, Donald Brown and his wife Ardell, Cedar Falls; two daughters, Beverly Mullarkey, Estherville, and Marilyn Albrant and her husband Mark, Dolliver; five grandchildren; one great grandchild,, one brother, Ansel Elwell, Elkart, Ind.; and one sister, Mrs. Doug (Bessie) Edwards, Griffith, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Opal Galvin. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 10, 1986)
