William Ellis Dies After Long Illness
William Ellis, 72, long time Estherville resident, died of heart disease 11:10 a.m. today at Holy Family hospital. He had been ill a number of years and had suffered a stroke about three months ago.

Ellis was single, and had lived in Estherville since about 1913 when he came here from his native Illinois. During his active years, he worked as a tiler in Emmet county.

He was born Mar. 23, 1877, [per cemetery records, 1878] in Illinois and received his education there.

Survivors include a brother, Mack of Estherville, and two sisters, Mrs. Tom Smith of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. A.E. Hindman, Indianapolis.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Sternborg funeral chapel, with burial at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 21, 1949)
