Virginia Ellerston
Ringsted – Memorial services for Mrs. James C. (Virginia) Ellerston, 61, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville with Rev. John Bowe of the Estherville Presbyterian Church officiating. She died Monday, April 4, 1983 at Holy Family Hospital.

There will be no visitation.

Virginia Mattison was born June 8, 1921 at Lake City, the daughter of Ray and Carrie (Perkins) Mattison. She attended Rockwell City schools. After high school graduation she attended Parsons College at Fairfield and graduated from Coe College at Cedar Rapids with degrees in English and music. She married James C. Ellerston at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. Mrs. Ellerston taught music for many years in area public schools until retiring in 1972. She taught piano lessons in Ringsted and Armstrong.

Mrs. Ellerston was a member of the Presbyterian Churches in Ringsted and Estherville, a member of the Order of Eastern Star; White Shrine; P.E.O.; N.E.A. and several school fraternities.

Survivors include her husband, James, Ringsted; one daughter, Gean Anne (Mrs. James DeSmidt); two sons: James R. of Fort Dodge and Jon A. of rural Ringsted; five grandchildren and one aunt, Lillian Mattison, Rockwell City.

She was precede in death by her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 5, 1983)
