Mrs. Crowther, mother of Mrs. Dell Cleveland and Mrs. J. Holmes, died Sunday evening at her home in this city. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, November 4, 1908)

Mrs. Mary E. Crawther did at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Cleveland, Sunday evening November 1 at 6 o’clock.Mary E. Barnes was born in Noblesville, Indiana, October 21, 1835, being 73 years and 10 days of age at the time of her death.
She was united in marriage January 31, 1856 with J. Foresman, whose death occurred August 28, 1862, leaving her with three children, who now survive, Miss Susan Foresman of Estherville, Mrs. J.A. Holmes, formerly of this city but now of Viroqua, Wisconsin and W.A. Forseman of Wakita, Oklahoma.
She was again united in marriage October 21, 1863 to John Crawther who died a few years later. To this union were born two daughters, Miss Lizzie Crawther of Independence and Mrs. Ida Cleveland of Estherville with whom Mrs. Crawther spent her last years.
Thirty years of this lady’s life were spent in New Hampton and the last eighteen years were spent in Estherville.
When a young girl she gave her life to her Master, uniting with the M.E. church and her last moments were spent safe in her Savior’s care.
