Mrs. James Coon Dies; Rites Monday
Mrs. James A. Coon, 84, longtime resident of the city, died this morning at the Hofstader Nursing Home of complications of advanced age.The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ruckman, Mrs. Coon (Christina Ruckman) was born March 7, 1877 in Champaign, County, Ill. In 1902 she was married to James Coon at the home of her parents, who had moved to this county in 1900.
The Coons farmed in this area until his retirement. The couple had been married 59 years. She was a member of First Methodist Church.
In addition to the widower, three brothers survive: Thomas Ruckman and Fred Ruckman, both of Estherville, and Harry Ruckman of Stewart, Fla. Mrs. Coon was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and a sister.
Services have been set for Monday at 2 p.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. The Rev. William R. Noland will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from tomorrow until time of the services.
Pallbearers will be Andrew C. Christiensen, Mike Malonly [Maloney], Orlo Smith, W.D. Sidles, James Darling and R.S. Knight. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 3, 1961)
