Mrs. Bedford Cole Dies
Mrs. S. Bedford (Ethel) Cole, 83, longtime resident of Estherville, died this morning at 2 o’clock at the Balmer Nursing Home where she was a resident. Death was attributed to complications of old age.Mrs. Cole was born Oct. 24, 1874 in Clay county the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Maxwell. She was married to Mr. Cole on Jan. 24, 1896 at Spencer. After their marriage the couple farmed in Clay county until 1907 at which time they moved to Estherville where Mr. Cole was employed by the Chicago, Rock Island railroad.
Survivors are four children: Mrs. Edgar (Helen) Chitwood of Seattle, Wash., Archie R. of Rohnert Park [?], Ca., Mrs. Avis Knauss [Nauss] of Boyden, Ruth of Estherville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Beulah Langfelder of Rosburg, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1931, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services have tentatively been set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Seventh Day Adventist church, the Elder C.E. Larson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sandin-Furhman Funeral home from Sunday afternoon until time of the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 12, 1958)
