Tims Rites Wednesday
Funeral services for William John Tims, 66, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel, the Rev. William Niles of the Gruver Presbyterian church officiating. Mr. Tims died Saturday [June 28, 1958] of a heart attack. He had been in failing health for four years.Mr. Tims was born May 4, 1872 at Mason City, the son of William and Mary Ann [Cooper] Tims. He received his education in the Mason City schools and on May 3, 1910 was united in marriage to Margaret May Cook at the Methodist Parsonage there.
The couple moved to Estherville in 1925 at which time Mr. Tims purchased the Estherville Greenhouse and continued to operate it for 23 years. In floral establishments at Mason City and Watertown, S.D., as well as Marshalltown where he served as manager of a greenhouse and the Storm Lake Floral Co. where he owned half interest.
A member of the Presbyterian church, he was a former member of the Chamber of Commerce and Elks Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret; two children, Mrs. Wilbur (Dorothy) Mickelson of Estherville and Robert Tims of Palo Alto, Calif.; and four granddaughters, Meredith, Noel, Jean and Kay Mickelson of Estherville and Connie Jo Tims of Palo Alto. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Cole of California and Mrs. Frank Carrol of Mason City and one brother, Richard Tims of Des Moines.
Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral home from today until time of services.
Pallbearers are to be Dr. N.R. Ellsworth, C.J. Mathieson, Fred Elwood, John Lyman, Henry Kolb of Storm Lake and Virgil Nelson of Spirit Lake.
Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1958)
