Mrs. Maclay, 80, Dies Today Following Stroke

Mrs. Bridget R. Maclay, 80, died at 5 o'clock this morning after suffering a stroke a week ago. A resident of Emmet county for 20 years, Mrs. Maclay passed away at the county farm where she had lived for the past three years.

Mrs. Maclay [Bridget Greer] was born on June 10, 1868, in Kilkenny, Minn., and as of a young girl moved to Spencer where she was married to James Maclay. The couple moved from Spencer to Estherville where Mr. Maclay was employed on the M. & St. L. railroad. He died on Aug. 17, 1946, after having been in ill health for several years. Mrs. Maclay was a member of the Catholic church.

Only immediate survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Hough of Montery, Minn., and two grandsons.

Rosary services will be held at 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Sternborg funeral chapel and the funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's church, Father J.J. Keane officiating. Mrs. Maclay will be buried beside hr husband in the Catholic cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 5, 1948)
