James Maclay Dies After Suffering Stroke
James W. Maclay, 64, died at 2 o'clock this morning at the county farm following a cerebral hemorrhage. He had suffered several strokes during the pat three years.
He was born March 20, 1882 at Spencer. On March 17, 1924, he married Bridget Greer at Spencer. He lived his entire life in the Spencer and Estherville communities. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic church.
Survivors include his wife, living at Estherville, a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Hough, Monterey, Minn., a sister, Mrs. Howard Mathews, Marathon, Ia., and a brother, Allen of James, N.D. Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in the St. Patrick's Catholic church with Father J.J. Keane officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. The Rosary will be said at 9 p.m. Sunday in the Sternborg chapel. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 17, 1946)
