Butler Rites Tomorrow
Funeral services for Clarence Butler will be held 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Sternborg funeral parlors and 2 p.m. in the Methodist church, the Rev. John De Long officiating. Burial will be at Oakhill cemetery. Butler died early Saturday morning in Cherokee. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 8, 1948)

Clarence F. Butler
Clarence Fred Butler, son of Fred O. and Avis Shannon Butler, was born June 30, 1908 on a farm near Estherville.

He received his education in rural schools and in Superior high school.

Mr. Butler lived in Emmet county all of his life and farmed near Estherville for awhile. He also was truck foreman for Otto Holton Construction company and worked for Gamble Robinson.

He was stricken with a lingering illness six years ago and died at Cherokee state hospital early on the morning on Nov. 6.

The deceased is survived by three brothers, Wayne, Ralph and Philip of Estherville and one sister, Mrs. Ernest Whiteford of Windom, Minn., and his mother. His father and one brother preceded him in death.

Services were held 1:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Sternborg funeral chapel and at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Methodist church, the Rev. John DeLong officiating.

Pall bearers were Oscar Lungren, Clifford Ingvall, Clarence Ingvall, Edward Timmons, Ivan Timmons and Erle Reid. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 19, 1948)
