Heart Attack Fatal to Mrs. Olive Brown

Mrs. Olive Brown, 74, lifetime resident of the Estherville community, died last night at 9:30 at Holy Family Hospital of a heart attack suffered at 9:00 at her home. Mrs. Brown was a semi-invalid and had been in failing health for some time.

Born May 11, 1883, in Estherville, she was the daughter of Hilas and Caroline Allen. She received her education in the Estherville schools and on Dec. 25, 1903 married Grendville [Granville] (Dick) Brown at the Little Lake Church in Jackson county. Ten children were born to this union. The couple immediately after their marriage farmed near the Minnesota line for a few years and then moved back to Estherville where her husband was employed by the Rock Island railroad.

Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Paul (Daisy) Pellner and Mrs. John (Alice) Peterson, both of Charles City; Mrs. Fred (Vivian) Van Valkenburg of Omaha, Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Oelkers of Dunnell, Mrs. Herman (Pearl) Zerke and Mrs. Ben (Grace) Elwell, both of Estherville; four sons, Grant and Ernest, both of Estherville, Richard of Des Moines, Morton of Hawthorne, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Horace Wood, Lake Park and Mrs. Frank Doughty of Estherville and one brother, Harry Allen, Mankato, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died July 19, 1943.

Funeral arrangements have not been set at this time pending word from the son in California.
