ESTHERVILLE - Mass of Christian Burial for Harold Carr, 76, of Superior will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Monsignor Michael Sernett as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Vigil Service at 8 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville.
He died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.
Harold Albert Carr, the son of George and Mary (Sullivan) Carr, was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Whittemore.
He received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School. Later he attended Morningside College in Sioux City and Estherville Junior College.
Harold was employed at John Morrell and Company and by the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for Emmet County. On July 3, 1965, Harold was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Smith in Estherville. The couple made their home and raised their family north of Superior for 47 years where Harold farmed.
Harold was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a past 4-H leader.
Left to cherish Harold's memory is his wife, Patricia, of Superior; sons, Patrick Carr and special friend, Michele Etherington, of rural Estherville and his children, Melissa, Matthew and Andrew, Michael Carr and wife, Lynn, of Rock Rapids, Joseph Carr, D.V.M. and wife, Shannon, D.V.M. of Jackson, Minn. and their children, Noah, Ethan, Jonah and Jakob and Thomas Carr, D.V.M. and wife, Deb, of rural Estherville and their children, Aaron and John; daughter, Mary Carr Peterson, P.A-C and husband, David, of Ankeny, and their children, Elizabeth and William; siblings, Dennis Carr, D.V.M. and wife Marilyn of Monfort, Wis., Delores Taormina and husband, Vincent, M.D. of Lexington, Ky. and Thomas F. Carr, D.V.M. and his wife, Linda, of Moville.
He has been preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Fonder; brother, Gene and step-mother, Mabel Carr. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 20, 2012)
