Esther Burkart Dies After Five Months’ Illness
Esther Burkart, 38, died at 4 a.m. Sunday [December 30, 1945] at her home at 640 S. 9th street, after being ill for five months.
Esther Burkart was born March 16, 1907, in Estherville where she attended the grade and high schools. Previous to her illness she was teaching school in Clarion. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Those who survive her are six brothers, Clarence, in the navy; Elmer of Graettinger, John of Dolliver, Glen of Manhattan, Ill., Charles of Newark, N.Y., and Lester of Hammond, Wis.; and four sisters, Mrs. Alma Burge of Estherville, Mrs. Nellis Barstow of Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Anna Amos of Estherville and Mrs. Lucille Weir of Sampson, N.Y. Her parents and one brother, Allen, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:45 p.m. from the Mahlum and Sandin chapel and 2 p.m. from the Baptist church with the Rev. G.E. Forssell officiating. Burial was at the Oakhill cemetery.
