Mrs. Wempe Rites Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Wempe, 87, Estherville, who died yesterday morning, June 13, 1972, at Holy Family Hospital will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s church. There will be rosary at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Fuhrman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wempe, Cecelia Mary Schulte, was born Oct. 8, 1884, at Breda, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schulte. She received her education in Breda schools.

On Jan. 18, 1910, she was married to Henry Wempe at Breda. They farmed near there for six years and then moved to the Terril area. In 1947 they moved to Estherville. Mr. Wempe died in 1957

Mrs. Wempe was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Estherville.

Surviving are two sons, Bernard of Estherville and Edwin of Long Beach, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Faye (Adeline) Gage, Estherville; Mrs. Oliver (Florence) Truesdale and Mrs. Ellsworth (Lucille) Hein, Welcome, and Mrs. Milton (Arlene) Prange, Good Thunder, Minn.; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Arthur O’Toll, Sac City; Mrs. Walt Summer, Lake View; Mrs. Perry McCrea, Goshen, Ind., and Mrs. Earl Newman, Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) until time of the funeral. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Larry and Delmer Prange, John and Robert Truesdell and James and Richard Wempe. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 14, 1972)
