Clyde Bolty, 52, Dies After 2-Year Illness
Funeral Services to Be Held Saturday
Clyde L. Bolty, 52, died about 9 o’clock last night at Holy Family hospital after an illness that extended over most of two years. Cause of death was given as cancer. Bolty, Rock Island railroad man, was forced to discontinue his work last Christmas and had been at home since that time.Born on a farm near Hedrick, Ind., on Jan. 31, 1891, Bolty came to Estherville in 1913 and began to work on the railroad. He married Rose Vestrem Oct. 23, 1914.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. E.H. Garling of Garner, Marilyn and Joan living and home; and two sons, Eugene and Glen of Estherville. Also surviving are a grandson, Ronald Lee Garling, and an uncle, John Hodges, of Clackamas, Oregon.
He was a member of the First Methodist church and the Switchman’s Union of North America.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Bolty home and at 2 o’clock in the Methodist church, Rev. C.J. Semans officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 10, 1946)
