Estherville – Services for Edgar John Bleasdell, 78, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. He was dead on arrival at Holy Family Hospital Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1988.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Friday.

He was born April 11, 1910, at Kingsley, the son of John and Rose (Murray) Bleasdell. He graduated from Pierson High School in 1927. On Dec. 12, 1933, he was united in marriage with Vera Wood at Liscomb. He farmed for many years in the Cherokee, Quimby, Battle Creek and Kingsley areas. The family moved to Estherville in 1958 where he managed the Council Oak Store. He began working for F.S. Services in Gruver in 1965 where he worked until retiring in 1980. He enjoyed square dancing, fishing, and travelling.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was treasurer of Estherville AARP Chapter.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; two sons: Kenneth, Vancouver, Wash. and Bob, Ashland, Ore.; two daughters: Mrs. Ron (Karen) Mills, Spencer and Mrs. Jeff (Patsy) Holstein, Sioux City; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 23, 1988)
