Final Services on Thursday for Amelia Bartels
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville for Mrs. Amelia Elaine Bartels, 75, a former resident of Charles City who died at the Rockwell Nursing Home. She has lived in the Rockwell Nursing Home for the last four years.She was born Feb. 3, 1894, in Germany to John and Wilhelmina Lavelle Lippert. She moved to the United States with her parents and was married Nov. 29, 1922 to Edward Bartels of Estherville who died in 1937.
Survivors are a son, Edgar, Evansdale; three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Evelyn) Losee, Rockwell; Mrs. Harold (Alice) Hovenga, Evansdale, and Mrs. John (Pauline) Peters, Charles City. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Kathryn) Borchers, Estherville, and Mrs. Jerome (Pauline) Madsen, Sioux Falls, S.D., 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Friends may call at the church after 11:30 a.m. Thursday until time of services. Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City has charge of arrangements. The Rev. W.H. Discher will officiate at the services and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 5, 1969)
