Burial Rites Here For Mrs. D.M. Andrews
An Early Resident
Burial rites were held at Oak Hill cemetery Monday afternoon for Mrs. D.M. Andrews, 76, an early resident of Estherville and Emmet county. Mrs. Andrews died at the home of her widowed daughter, Mrs. Maude Hamilton, St. Louis, Mo., on Sunday, Sept. 24. She had been ill several months.Della May Andrews was born Sept. 21, 1868 in Winneshiek county, Iowa, daughter of Margaret Arminta Fannon and Harvey Miller. She came to Estherville at the age of four with her parents and spent her early girlhood in this county. She was married in August, 1888 to Chas. W. Andrews. They moved to Nebraska where two children were born, Maude E. and Mac M. Andrews. Mrs. Andrews was widowed while quite young and spent the greater part of her life in Nebraska where she was well known as one of the first women pharmacists in the state. She was engaged in the drug business in Platte county.
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Hamilton of St. Louis, the son Mac M. Andrews of Lindsay, Neb. and two grandchildren, Mrs. R.R. Nantkes, Omaha and Tom Andrews of Lindsay also two nieces, Mrs. Cliff Cowman, Malland, Iowa, and Mrs. Milton Buffum, Emmetsburg. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 28, 1944)
