Local Man Dies At 59
Myron Van Valkenburg, 59, died yesterday about noon of a heart attack at his home on the Butler Bros. farm.

He was born July 27, 1889, at Marathon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred T. Van Valkenburg. The family moved to Estherville in 1903, and he attended schools here. He worked as fireman on the Rock Island Railroad, and then was employed by Bixby Bros. as a butcher.

In 1925 he moved to East Chicago, Ind., where he worked for the General Car Company. He was married to Sadie Baker June 25, 1925, at Crown Point, Ind. He returned to Estherville in 1929. He served in World War II and after his return from the service worked at the packing plant here.

He is survived by four brothers, Raymond, Jim and Harry, all of Estherville and Fred of Omaha, Nebr.; and two sisters, Mrs. George Bradley of Gonzales, Calif. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. Eugene Olson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from Tuesday until time of services. Military graveside services will be conducted at East Side Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 9, 1959)
