Carl G. Anderson Dies at 69
Carl G. Anderson, 69, who owned and operated a shoe store here for nearly 20 years and was active in service and fraternal organizations, died about 8 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital.

Mr. Anderson had been in failing health for approximately a year. He underwent treatment at a Rochester hospital and brain surgery at St. Paul hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Methodist Church here, the Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Friends may call at Sternborg’s Funeral Home from Saturday evening until 11 a.m. Monday when the body will be taken to the church.

He was born Apr. 7, 1898 in Chicago, the son of A.G. and Sophia Anderson. He moved with his parents to Ida County in 1910. Mr. Anderson attended schools in Arthur and Chicago.

Prior to coming to Estherville Mr. Anderson operated a shoe store in Webster City for several years. He moved to Emmetsburg in 1936 and operated the Anderson Shoe Store there until 1938 when he moved to Estherville where he operated the Estherville Shoe Store at 516 Central Ave.

He also had owned shoe stores at Fort Dodge, Waverly and Ottumwa but in the past few years had sold his interest in all but the Estherville store.

Mr. Anderson was married to Edith Bowles in February 1939.

Survivors in addition to Mrs. Anderson includes a brother, Albert H. Anderson of Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

A member of Kiwanis, Knights of Pythias, Elks and the local Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Anderson served as president of Kiwanis and grand chancellor of the Knights of Pythias.

Pallbearers will be William S. Clark, W.I. Hansen, C. F. Arthur, Don Woodley, B.B. Schreck and Lawrence Jensen. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 1, 1957)

KP’s to Meet Monday
All members of the Estherville Knights of Pythias lodge are requested to meet at the K.P. Hall Monday [November 4, 1957] at 1:30 p.m. to attend the funeral service for Carl Anderson in a body. The service is at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 2, 1957)
