Estherville – Services for Leonard Peter Hoffman, 67, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Tom Topf, Presider. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1992 at his rural Estherville home.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and Parish Vigil Service at 7:30 both on Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born March 9, 1924 at Carroll, the son of Joseph and Mary (Hackfort) Hoffman and attended school at Holy Angels School in Roselle. On June 4, 1946 he was united in marriage with Ethel Tiefenthaler at Breda. The couple lived at Carroll until moving to a farm east of Estherville in February of 1947. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of Estherville; four sons: Dennis, Kevin and Craig Hoffman, Estherville, Lynn Hoffman, Clinton; six daughters: Mrs. Larry (Diana) Clark, Merrill; Mrs. James (Sharon) Anderson, Yankton, S.D.; Mrs. Paul (Marcia) Haywood, Milford; Mrs. Melvin (Jean) Fish, Fremont, Nebr.; Myrna and Joyce Hoffman, both of Ames; 19 grandchildren; five brothers, Louis, of Emmetsburg; Joseph, of Ruthven, John and Lambert, of Graettinger; Norbert of Carroll; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Mary Ann) Handlos, of Carroll.

He was preceded in death by one son; his parents; and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 19, 1992)
