Estherville – Services for Mrs. Blanche Louise Hyer, 80, Estherville, were held Monday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hyer died Thursday [November 13, 1980] evening at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

The daughter of William and Bertha Kirchner, she was born May 2, 1900, at Estherville and received her education in rural Emmet County schools.

She moved to North Dakota with her parents in 1914 and returned to Estherville when she was married to Warren Hyer on Dec. 23, 1920. The couple lived in the Estherville and Huntington area, where they farmed and did custom work. She was a member of the Huntington Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hyer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Irene) Neppl and Mrs. Earl (Dorothy) Neppl, both of Estherville; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Howard Kirchner, Seneca, ill.; and two step-sisters, Helen Meeker, Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Marion Brown of California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 17, 1980)
