Estherville – Services for Dennis C. Murphy, 27, Apple Valley, Calif. and formerly of Estherville, will be held Sunday, 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Father Albert O. Grendler and the Rev. Tom Balm will officiate. He died suddenly in an auto accident Tuesday, June 26, 1984 at Apple Valley.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Saturday. Legion of Mary rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and parish rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Murray was born August 18, 1956, in Estherville, the son of Charles and Ardis (Huntley) Murray. He attended the Estherville Schools where he graduated from high school in 1974. Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served with the Military Police and medical corps for six years. On Aug. 5, 1977, he was united in marriage with Sherri Janicki at Huntsville, Ala. The past several years Murray has been employed with the Department of Defense as a drug and alcohol counselor with the Marine Corp Logistic Base in Barstow, Calif. The couple made its home in Apple Valley. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Apple Valley; Dungeon Health Center and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri; a son, Jeremiah and daughter, Brianna, Apple Valley; parents, Charles and Ardis Murray, Estherville; three brothers Dave and Dean, Estherville and Duane, Virginia Beach, Va.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Freda Murray and maternal grandmother Mrs. Cordia Huntley, Estherville; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Murray and Dave Huntley. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1984)
