Mrs. Resh, 40, Victim of Cancer
Graettinger – Mrs. Hal Resh, 40, of Richmond, Calif., formerly of this area, died in her home Oct. 3 at 4:35 p.m. Cause of death was cancer. She had been ill since July 1959.Mrs. Resh is survived by her husband; her mother, Mrs. Louisa Oddson of Graettinger; one daughter, Mrs. Leland (Phyllis) Fluitt of California; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Lillian) Dahle of Britt and Mrs. Linus (Lorraine) Smith of Estherville; one brother, LeRoy Oddson of Graettinger; and one granddaughter, Kathy Brockman.
Funeral services will be held in California before the body is brought to the Wallingford Lutheran Church where services will also be held. Details of the services are not known and will b published later. The Martin Funeral Home in Graettinger is in charge of arrangements.
Berniece Oddson was born June 10, 1920, on a farm east of Graettinger. Her parents were Mrs. Louisa Oddson and the late Albert Oddson.
She receive her education in the High School schools. She was married to Hal Resh of Graettinger Aug. 25, 1937 in Emmetsburg. They lived in Wallingford prior to moving to California in 1941. Mr. Resh is a transport truck driver.
Mrs. Resh was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Oddson went to California in June to stay with Mrs. Resh and was with her daughter when she died. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 4, 1960)
Resh Rites Will Be Saturday
Graettinger – Funeral services for Mrs. Hal Resh, 40, former area resident who died at her home in Richmond, Calif., Oct. 3, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church, the Rev. N.L. Jolivette officiating.Martin Funeral Home is in charge of services. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today. Burial will be in High Lake cemetery.
Pallbearers are Leroy Huntley, Nick Spear, Wayne Bryan, Alvin Johnson, Dale Young and Lewis Sevatson, all of Wallingford. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 7, 1960)
Harry Resh, Hal Resh Jr. and Mrs. Leland Fluitt, all of Richmond, Calif., plan to leave Monday to return to California. They made the trip to this area to accompany the body of Mrs. Harry Resh to Graettinger where funeral services were held Monday. They have been staying with Mr. Resh’s mother-in-law, Mrs. Louisa Oddson of Graettinger, and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Linus Smith and family of Estherville.
