Mr. Herman Stammer died Sunday at his home in Ellsworth township. The funeral was held Monday and the remains interred in the West Side cemetery. By his taking away leaves a family of seven children and a mother in almost destitute circumstances. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, April 7, 1897)

Herman Stammer, who has lived on the N-W of 7 in Ellsworth twp. for the past four years, died Saturday. He had a brain trouble for some time and suffered much. He leaves a wife and seven children in poor circumstances, the oldest child being only 13 years of age and the youngest 8 months. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, April 8, 1897)
