The death of August Leo, which occurred Sunday night, December first, removes from Emmet county an old resident, who was known everywhere for his honesty and untiring in---. He was a wonderful worker, bring inclined to frugal and economic habits he was becoming well ---. He worked too hard however, as a – for his own good, and no doubt hastened his death. The immediate cause of death was typhoid pneumonia complicated with inflammation of the bowels. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, December 6, 1889)

August Leo, father of Mrs. George Bergman, died at his home near Emmet last Sunday, after a brief illness. He was formerly well known in this county as the miller at Okoboji Mills. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, December 6, 1889)
