Death of Peter C. Lostgard [Lostgord]
Peter C. Lostgard died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Eike, in this city at six o’clock Tuesday morning, August 23rd, aged 68 years and eight months. The immediate cause of his death was heart trouble caused by Bright’s disease.Funeral is to be held from the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon at two o’clock and will be in charge of the Masons.
Mr. Lostgard was born in Norway January 14, 1842. In 1870, he came to the United States and settled in Fayette county, this state. He remained there until 1893, when he came to Estherville and has lived here most of the time since then, making his home with his daughter.
Deceased was an honest, conscientious and a devoted member of North Star lodge No. 447 A.F. and A.M.
For a number of years and until his health failed he was janitor of the court house and at one time was one of the door keepers of the house of representatives during a session of the legislature. He always did his duty wherever he was and his character was above reproach.
His wife died several years ago, but he is survived by three children, Mrs. Gilbert Eike, of this city, a son Gilbert, of Hardwick, Minnesota, and Chas. Lostgard, of Sandstone, Iowa. There were three other children but they died a number of years ago. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 24, 1910)
