Memorial Service
Memorial services for Second Lieut. Kenneth Edward Hubbard will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 in the Church of Christ. Patriotic organizations of the city will attend.

Lieutenant Hubbard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hubbard of Estherville, was killed in an aerial accident over England, Nov. 29, according to word received by his parents.

He completed his primary and basic training at Sequoia Field, Visalia, Calif., and Gardner Field, Taft, Calif. He was stationed at Portland Air Base, Portland, Ore., before being selected for aviation cadet training.

Surviving are his parents, a brother, Clayton, and two sisters, Mrs. Glenn Yates of Osage, and Mrs. Ronald Schenck. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 22, 1945)

Memorial Service Held Sunday for Kenneth Hubbard
Patriotic Organization Members Attend
Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon in the Church of Christ for Second Lieut. Kenneth Hubbard of Estherville who was killed in an aerial accident over England, Nov. 29.

Members of the American Legion, Legion Auxiliary, American War Dads, VFW, VFW Auxiliary, Service Star Legion, DAR and United Service organizations attended the memorial services.

Mrs. Lloyd Johnson and Mrs. Fred Sawyer sang “It singeth Low in Every Heart,” a song requested by the Hubbard family. They also sang “One Sweetly Solemn Thought.”

Gift for the Church
Patriotic organizations, friends and members of the family are contributing towards a memorial gift which will be given to the church in memory of Lieutenant Hubbard.

The Rev. Leon Triggs, pastor of the church, chose as his topic “Heaven, a Home” and referred to home life and the ideal life. He said the boys carry a concept of home life into the world and it is home life the boys are fighting for. If all the world has home life then we will have peace, he said.

Taps were blown at the close of the service.

Relatives attend
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Yates, son and daughter of Osage and Mrs. Ed Hubbard’s sister were among out-of-town relatives at the service. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 1, 1945)
