Retired Farmer Dies at 82
Louis Isakson, 82, a retired Emmet County farmer, died Wednesday night at his farm home southeast of Estherville from cancer. He had been in failing health for two years.Mr. Isakson was born Oct. 14, 1883, in Bergen, Norway, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isak Olson. He received his education in Norway and came to the United States in 1899 to live with his brother in Graettinger. Soon after, he moved to the Emmet County farm where he lived the rest of his life.
He was married Oct. 30, 1906 to Emma Rockne at Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Gruver.
Prior to coming to the United States he was a sailor. He retired from farming two years ago.
Mr. Isakson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Gruver.
Survivors include one son, Bernard, who has lived with his wife in his father’s home for two years; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. E.R. Wurmli of Minneapolis and Mrs. Anna Larson of Norway; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, one son, one daughter, his parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Family services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by 2 p.m. public services at Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Gruver, Rev. Benjamin Coltvet officiating. Burial will be in High Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until [last line missing]. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 10, 1966)
