Estherville – Funeral services for Esther Isakson, 90, of Estherville will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 at the Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Ray Miller officiating. Interment will be held at High Lake Cemetery in rural Wallingford. She died on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Estherville was born on Oct. 16, 1913, in Buffalo, S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Gertie (Johnson) Iverson. Esther was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended schools in Mitchell, S.D.
She was then united in marriage to her husband, Bernard Isakson. The couple farmed in the Wallingford and Graettinger area until 1947, when they moved into Estherville.
Esther was employed at Holy Family Hospital for 23 years until her husband died in 1976. She then moved to Breezy Acre Apartments where she has made her home since.
She was an active member of Estherville Lutheran Church, ELCW, Good Samaritan Auxiliary and RSVP. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, sewing and making quilts for family.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Joyce King of Estherville; son, Leon Isakson and his wife, Marilyn of Charles city; six grandchildren, Dan King and his wife, Aletha of Cylinder; Tim King and his wife, Julie of Wallingford; Brenda Juhl and her husband, Gordon of Estherville; Mark King and his wife, Lori of Estherville; Rhonda Dana and her husband, Gale of Cedar Falls and Lon Isakson and his wife, Kim of Cowell; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon Iverson of Chandler, Texas; brother-in-law, Max Jamison of Emmetsburg and many nieces and nephews.
She has been preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law, Dale King, parents, four brothers, three sisters, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 17, 2004)
