Estherville – Services for Robert W. [Willis] Fry, 72, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be in High Lake Cemetery, rural Gruver, with military rites by John W. Brawford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388 of Estherville and the Christensen-Bonnicksen American Legion Post in Ringsted. He died Thursday, March 25, 1993 at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 2-8 p.m. Sunday.
He was born June 10, 1920 at Webster City, the son of Willis and Almeda (Linn) Fry, and attended Stratford and Ayrshire schools and later attended G.I. School in Graettinger. The family moved from Stratford to Ayrshire and later to Depew. In 1937 his family moved to a farm near Ringsted. In 1941 he joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II in Africa and Italy in the 34th Artillery Division. On august 26, 1945 he married Ollie Aanonson at rural Immanuel Lutheran Church. They farmed near Ringsted and in 1964 moved to rural Estherville where they farmed until retiring in 1985 when they moved into Estherville.
He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church where he served in numerous positions and a past member of rural Immanuel Lutheran. He was a member of VFW Post 3388 in Estherville and Christiansen-Bonnicksen American Legion in Ringsted.
Survivors include his wife Ollie, of Estherville; one son Stephen of Estherville; a daughter, Mrs. W. Terrance (Sherilyn) Schreier of Boulder, Colo. and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; twin brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 27, 1993)
