Rites To Be Tuesday for Mrs. Benson
Ringsted – Mrs. J. Harry (Mabel) Benson, 61, former Armstrong school teacher and Ringsted resident, died Saturday morning at Holy Family Hospital. She was staying at the Benson cottage at Ingham Lake when she became ill and was rushed to the hospital.The former Mabel Christine Willey was born on Dec. 19, 1901, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Al Wiley, at Marseilles, Ill. She moved to Ringsted with her family while still a young girl and she received her education in the Ringsted schools. She taught elementary school for many years in Armstrong following her marriage to J. Harry Benson. Three years ago they moved to Des Moines.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Maribelle Lou Cook and Mrs. Jan Ellen Dalbey, both of Des Moines, one grandson, Aaron Dalbey of Des Moines and one sister, Mrs. Carl T. Hansen of Ringsted.
Family services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdsay at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel and public services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Ringsted Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Arthur H. Cruickshank of Des Moines officiating. Burial will be at High Lake – Jack Creek Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1963)
