Ames – Services for Bertha Waldee,89, of Ames, will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran church with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1992 at Green Hills Health Care Center at Ames. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born September 23, 1902 in Orleans, Ind., the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (McIntire) Johnson, and at age four moved to Wenatchee, Wash. Following college she taught school in Everett, Wash. and Fargo, N.D. before moving to Logan Utah, where she also taught. On June 3, 1950 she married Dr. Edward Waldee at Pocatello, Idaho. Following marriage they moved to Indonesia, later Iran and Jordan, later Afganistan where they retired and moved back to Bethesda, Md. They moved to Ames in 1986.

Survivors include her husband and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 2, 1992)
