Myrtle Torreson
Wallingford – Myrtle A. Torreson, 80, Wallingford, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1986 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wallingford Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark Jolivette of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born March 2, 1902 [1906] in Emmet County to Ole C. and Gjertina (Peterson) Olson. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1923. She married Chester L. Torreson on Sept. 1, 1926 in Wallingford. She lived her entire life in High Lake Township. She taught school in the Wallingford area from 1923-1925. After her marriage, she worked with her husband in the Torreson Oil Company as the bookkeeper for many years. She had been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since September 1986. She was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church, the Wallingford American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Chester, Estherville; a son, Ralph Torreson; daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Duane) Dallmann, rural Estherville; Virginia (Mrs. Hugh) Thompson, rural Spirit Lake; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; brothers, Lloyd Olson, Estherville and Norman Olson, rural Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 20, 1986)
