Estherville – Services for Johanna Thomas, 89, of Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Wallingford Lutheran Church with Pastor Jack Torgerson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Friday, April 18, 1997 at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born Sept. 23, 1907 at Monticello, the daughter of Ludvig and Engle (Hanken) Larsen. She began her education in rural Wallingford Schools and graduated from Estherville High School, then attended Waldorf College at Forest city. She worked at Jorstad Hardware and Implement and Post Office in Wallingford. She married John Thomas Feb. 17, 1940 at Wallingford Lutheran Church. During World War II, she was a price clerk at the International Harvestor Co. in Sioux City. She also had worked many years at Holy Family Hospital and Good Samaritan Center where she has lived since October 22, 1993.

She was a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church, WELCA and the Ruth Circle.

Survivors include a brother, Norman Larsen, Rogers, Ark.; cousin, Inga Hubbard, Estherville; nieces and nephews, granddaughter, Mrs. Paul (Chris) Rademaker, Estherville; grandsons, Jeff Thomas, Sioux City, Norman John Thomas Jr., Wichita, Kans.; Clark Mathew Thomas, Minn.; Rhett Thomas, Graettinger; 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, two brothers and one sister.
