Estherville Man’s Services Saturday
Estherville – John Reed Smith, 86, Estherville, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital.

Mr. Smith was born June 2, 1888 in Keithburg, Ill. to Granville and Mellisa Smith. He received his education in Illinois.

He was married to Ethel Tibbetts May 8, 1928 at Steikney, S.D. and lived in South Dakota as a young man. He moved to the Wallingford area in 1940 and farmed until he retired in 1962. He moved to Estherville in 1966.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Christian Church and a veteran of WWI.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Don (Marjorie) Richard, Estherville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one step-daughter.

Services have been set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church with the Rev. James Harmon officiating. Burial will be at the Wallingford Cemetery.
