Eda Skattabo, 76, Dies at Harlan
Mrs. Clarence (Eda) Skattebo, 76, died Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan. Mrs. Skattebo had made her home for the past two years with her daughter, Mrs. Diane Kropf at Kimballton, near Harlan. Her death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

The former Eda Osher was born Nov. 2, 1890 at Wallingford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Osher. She received her education in the Wallingford elementary schools and Waldorf Academy at Forest City.

She was married Aug. 23, 1916, to Clarence I. Skattebo at Wallingford. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Skattebo farmed north of Wallingford. They later moved to a farm in High Lake Township. In 1947, they retired from farming and moved into Wallingford. Mr. Skattebo died July 5, 1963.

Mrs. Skattebo was a lifelong member of Wallingford Lutheran Church and an active member of the Women’s Ladies Aid, now known as the American Lutheran Church Women. She was a Women’s Missionary Federation delegate to the church district convention held in 1957 in Fort Worth, Tex.

She is survived by two sons, Earnest of Wallingford and Clare of Ringsted; three daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Margaret) Gunderson of Williston, N.D., Mrs. Duane (Carol) Kropf of Kimballton, Iowa, and Mrs. Richard (Lenora) Kropf of Ruthven; 18 grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer Osher of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wallingford Lutheran Church, Rev. Robert Glaser officiating. Burial will be in the Wallingford Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Olson, Lloyd P. Olson, Norman Olson, C.L. Torreson, Lloyd Skattebo, Francis Skattebo, Howard Bryant and Norman Egeland.

Active pallbearers will be Dean Osher, Edwin Osher, Eldon Skattebo, Harold Graff, Harold Rustad and Stanley Young. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 31, 1967)
