Ex-Resident of Area Dies
Funeral services for Reginald Schubbe, 56, of Owatonna, Minn., former Estherville area resident were to be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran church, the Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating. Burial was to have been at Riverside cemetery, Wallingford.

Mr. Schubbe died Thursday at the Veteran’s Hospital in Minneapolis after being in failing health for the past five years. Death was attributed to pneumonia and a heart condition.

Mr. Schubbe was born Oct. 30, 1902 [per MN death records, 1900] at Estherville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schubbe. He received his education in the Wallingford schools and also attended Waldorf and Buena Vista colleges. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

A rural mail carrier out of Estherville at one time, Mrs. [Mr.] Schubbe also operated businesses at Spencer, Jackson, Minn., and Clitherall, Minn. He was operator of a liquor store at Owatonna prior to his death.

A World War II veteran, He was a member of the Owatonna American Legion and also was a member of the Eagles lodge there.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Minnie Schubbe and three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Kathman, Mrs. Francis Flannigan and Miss Viola Schubbe, all of Graettinger. He was not married.

His father preceded him in death.

Pallbeareres for the funeral this afternoon were to be Jamie Kasa, Chester Torreson, Francis Skattebo, Loyd Skattebo and Selmer Dybdahl, all of Wallingford, and Max Soeth of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1958)
