Rites Friday for Mrs. Henry Schubbe, 97
Graettinger – Mrs. Henry (Minnie) Schubbe, 97, former Graettinger resident, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday [January 27, 1969] at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Estherville. Cause of death was a stroke. She had been ill for four weeks.She was born April 11, 1871, at Monee, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. John and Wilhelmena Behrens. She was educated in rural schools at Monee and was married March 19, 1891 to Henry Schubbe at Monee.
The couple lived in Monee and Chicago until 1910, when they moved to Estherville. Later they farmed in the Wallingford area until 1927, when Mr. Schubbe died.
Mrs. Schubbe continued to live in Graettinger until 1966 with her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Kathman, when she moved to the Hofstader Nursing Home.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Monee, Ill.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Graettinger, and a member of the W.C.A.L.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Nettie Kathman, Mrs. Francis (Verna) Flannigan, and Viola Schubbe, all of Graettinger; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Lutheran Church at Graettinger, with Rev. O.J. Reitz officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Wallingford.
The body will lie in state at the Fuhrman Funeral Home of Graettinger and friends may call from 3 p.m. Thursday until time of services on Friday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Reginald, one granddaughter, one sister and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 28, 1969)
