Clear Lake – Services for Mrs. Hollis (Evalyn) Burke, 70, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake with Father Ed Shields officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville, with Father Thomas Topf officiating. She died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1986 at her home in Clear Lake. The Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home of Clear Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Evalyn L. Norby was born Nov. 14, 1915 at Eldora, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Fench) Norby. She was a graduate of Estherville High School and attended Drake University in Des Moines. On Aug. 4, 1940 she was united in marriage with Frederick J. Nissen at Estherville. He died in 1957. On April 24, 1965 she married Hollis Burke at Menominee Falls, Wis.

Survivors include a son Peter Nissen, Butler, Wis.; six stepchildren: Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Patrick, Brandon, Minn., John Burke, Clear Lake, William Burke, McGregor, Mrs. Karen Schipper, Hampton, Larry Burke, Minneapolis and Mrs. Duane (Sandy) Hepperly, Mason City; 24 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Wirt Culpepper, Crowley, La. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 1, 1986)
