Estherville – Services for Helena Marie Long, 92, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Monday, Aug. 12, 1985 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and parish rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.

She was born Jan. 5, 1893 at Fruitport, Mich. and was the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Bender) Long. She moved with her parents to Estherville in 1907 where she attended school and was a graduate of Estherville High School. She worked for the telephone company from 1915 to 1955. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Pioneer Telephone Association.

Survivors include two sisters: Frances Long and Mrs. Beth Stavros, Estherville; one niece, Mrs. Barbara Kiefer, Dallas Center; two nephews, George Stavros, Phoenix, Ariz. and Donald Bryan, Detroit, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 14, 1985)
