Krahmer Is Called, Long Ill
Had Been in State Hospital Four Years Following Stroke; Funeral Probably Monday
G.W. Krahmer passed away Wednesday [May 26, 1943] evening at 6:30 o’clock at his home on North Tenth street. He had been ill for the past four years and his death came very suddenly. He was 59 years old.

George William Krahmer was born June 20, 1884 in Stevenson county, Illinois. He received his education in the Stevenson county [schools.] He lived in Illinois until he was eighteen years of age when he moved to Minnesota with his parents and lived for two years. He came to Estherville in 1917 where he has made his home ever since. He started working for the Rock Island when he came to Estherville and continued working for the Rock Island until he became ill four years ago. He was married October 16, 1906 to Mary Maloney.

Besides his widow to mourn his untimely death there are three sons, Joseph W. and Edward H., both of Cedar Rapids, and Sgt. Donald who is in an army camp in Oregon; four daughters, Margaret, Mrs. Clem Mulherin of Lafayette, Ind.; Mildred, Mrs. Merle Bloom of Ft. Dodge; Dorothy, Mrs. Donald Colbert of Iowa City; and Esther of Des Moines who is with Western Union; three brothers, Ed and Harvey Krahmer, and two sisters, Mrs. Ort Hooker and Mrs. Warnke, all of Pearl City, Ill, and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will probably be held Monday. They are awaiting for final word from Donald in Oregon. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 27, 1943)

Mr. and Mrs. Clem Mulherin and two children, Joseph and Mary Margaret, came Friday from LaFayette, Ind., being called here by the death of G.W. Krahmer. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 3, 1943)
