Ole Refsell
Wallingford – Services for Ole Leonard Refsell, 91, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by the Wallingford American Legion Post. He died Friday, Dec. 20, 1985 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville from 2-9 p.m. Sunday.
Refsell was born Dec. 1, 1894 at rural Wallingford, the son of Ingvall and Bertha (Nestegaard) Refsell. He attended Spring Grove Rural School. On Dec. 20, 1919, he was united in marriage with Mildred Jorstad at Minneapolis. He farmed his entire working life until retiring in 1960. His most pleasureful hobby was amateur ham radio operating.
He was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church board, elevator board, school board and as a Township Trustee. He was a veteran of World War One where he served in the United States Army in France.
Survivors include one son Robert Refsell, Wallingford; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Silas (Bettea) Lundy, Wallingford; Mrs. Jake (Alice) Amdahl, Estherville and Mabel Refsell, Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his wife on May 15, 1971; one daughter (Carol) and one grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 21, 1985)
