Dr. L. Refsell, 46, Dies in Eau Claire
Dr. Lloyd G. Refsell, 46, of Eau Claire, Wis., chairman of the Department of Philosophy of Eau Claire State University, died Friday night in Sacred Heart Hospital after an illness of several months. He had visited in this area many times and had relatives in the Wallingford area.

Mr. and Mrs. I.G. Ness, Mrs. Alma Nelson, James Nelson, and Mrs. Dora Refsell, all of Wallingford, went to Eau Claire Tuesday to attend funeral services for Dr. Refsell. Burial was in Lake View Cemetery there.

Dr. Refsell was born in Forest City in 1921. He received his B.A. degree from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., 1942; bachelor of theology degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Paul; master of theology degree from Princeton Seminary, Princeton, N.J., and several other degrees at other universities and Seminaries. In 19—he went to Eau Claire as professor and chairman of the department of philosophy.

He was an ordained minister of the American Lutheran Church and had served parishes in Chokio, Minn., Sparta, Wis., and Weehauen, N.J.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; his mother, Mrs. Helen Refsell of Robbinsdale,Minn., formerly of Wallingford, four sons, Lloyd, a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, Stephen, Jonathan and Olaf; a brother, Rev. John Refsell of Denver, Colo., and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Sanders of Los Angeles, Calif. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 23, 1967)
