Estherville – Services for Donald M. [Merril] Pro, 90, of Estherville, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery, Wallingford. He died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1995 at Providence Place Nursing Home in Kansas City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

He was born March 12, 1905 in Estherville, the son of John and Maria (Aanonson) Pro. He attended school in Estherville and later received architectural training thru the International Correspondence School. He lived his entire life in Estherville. He was employed with his father as a masonry contractor, and later worked independently and helped build many homes and building in the area., specializing in building fireplaces. On March 12, 1938 he married Margarette Pfeil at Radcliffe.

He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, Emmet County Tax Review Board, and worked many years with the Boy Scouts. The family enjoyed a lake home on Spirit Lake during the summers.

Survivors include a son Wallace Pro of West Hartford, Conn.; a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Barbara) Wood, of Oronoco, Minn. and Mrs. Tom (Linda) Tobler of Kansas City, Kans.; grandchildren: Tad, Tasha, Trenton and Travis Wood and one sister, Ruby Fulton of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margarette, Jan. 2, 1990; and infant daughter and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 31, 1995)
