Former Resident, Mrs. H.N. Osher, Died Saturday
Mrs. H.N. Osher, 85, died Saturday, July 25 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.W. Englund at Muscatine, Iowa. She was a longtime resident of Graettinger, her husband, H.N. Osher, being one of Greattinger’s earliest businessmen.Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at First Lutheran church in Graettinger with the pastor, Rev. Paul G. Tolo, officiating at the last rites. Pallbearers were Jorgen Anderson, C.A. Jensen, Quinten Jensen, Lawrence Skow, Ross Clayton, and Earl Erickson. Burial was in Riverside cemetery near Wallingford. The Martin Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Karen Sopia [Osher] was born on October 29, 1867, the daughter of Hans and Karen Jensen in Ringsted, Denmark. At the age of sixteen years she came to the United States.
She was married to Herman N. Osher at Albert Lea, Minn. on Feb. 21, 1887 and came as a young bride to the Graettinger community sixty six years ago.
She is survived in her death by four daughters, Mrs. F.W. Englund of Muscatine, Iowa, Mrs. A.H. Henningsen of Ames, Iowa, Mrs. E.M. Jensen of Lone Rock, Iowa, and Mrs. R.W. Schooley of Montclair, New Jersey, and a son, Dr. Norman W. Osher of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mrs. Osher is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Christine Anderson of Brush, Colorado, Mrs. Laura Munk of Blair, Nebraska, Mrs. John Paulson of West Des Moines and Mrs. Emma Skow of Graettinger; and three brothers, Chris Jensen of Phoenix, Arizona, Hans of Huckensack, Minn., and John of St. Petersburg, Fla. Also mourning her death is Mr. Honas Osher of Black Duck, Minn. who spent his childhood and youth with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband and four children, the latter ones dying in their infancy.
Mrs. Osher was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Denmark. Her devout Christian life was exemplary. She was a devoted mother and friend, always willing to give comfort and aid where needed. Beloved for her kindness, she will be truly missed by all who knew her.
