John Osher Native Son is Called
His Death is the First Among the Eleven Children of Mr. and Mrs. B.N. Osher, County Pioneers
The death of John Osher of Wallingford on Monday morning was the first break in the family of eleven children of the late Mr. and Mrs. B.N. Osher, pioneers of Emmet county.

John was 61 years old and had been in failing health for the past two years. On December 23 he was brought to the Coleman hospital in this city and it was there that his death occurred at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28.

The deceased man had never married. He was born on August 21, 1875 in Twelve Mile Lake township, was baptized by Rev. M. Holseth as an infant and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1892 by Rev. J.O. Kasa.

As a young man he went west, and lived there for 20 years. He returned home for a brief visit then went east to Davenport and Chicago where he worked for several years but came back to Emmet county at the time of his father’s death in 1930. He remained in Emmet county and purchased an 80 acre farm which he owned and worked until his death.

Surviving Mr. Osher’s passing are three sisters, Mrs. John Jacobson and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Graettinger, Mrs. Henry Duus also of that place but now in Los Angeles, Calif., and seven brothers, Nels of McNaughton, Wis., Lewis and Ole, of Wallingford, Ed of Graettinger now spending the winter at Seal Beach, Cal., Oliver of Graettinger, Gilbert, Estherville and William of St. Anne, Ill. Also 18 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon. A brief service will be at the Lewis Osher home near Wallingford at 1:30 with the service proper at two at the Riverside Lutheran church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 31, 1936)
