Edward F. [E.] Olson
Edward F. Olson was born Nov. 6, 1870 [per cemetery records, 1869], near Roland, Iowa, Story county, was baptized and confirmed at Salem Church, Roland, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Lein on Aug. 11, 1901, at Bellinghams, Washington, Rev. C.B. Sears performing the marriage. This union was blessed with three children, one girl and three boys, namely: Mrs. Joseph B. Tweedt, Jeremiah Theodoric, and Eugene Marion.

Mr. Olson was taken sick May 19. Doctors at first thought it was only flue of the stomach, later however, the sickness was found to be typhoid fever. He gradually grew worse and died Friday, June 3.

Mr. and Mrs. Olson first lived on a farm near Roland, Iowa, until they bought a farm in Dickinson county. He sold that and bought a new farm in Winnebago county near Forest city. After some years he also sold this farm and bought east of Wallingford church where he lived until his death.

Those to mourn the loss of a dear husband, father and son and brother are Mrs. Mary Olson and sons, Jermiah and Eugene and daughter Mrs. Joseph B. Tweedt and father Jeremiah Olson, Randall, Iowa, and two brothers, O.D. Olson of Wallingford and Josiah Olson of Clear Lake, and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Sigmond of Roland, Mrs. Anna Paulsrud of Randall and Mrs. Menolva Anderson of Randall.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 6, both from the Olson home and at the Lutheran church, Charles Anderson, funeral director, and T. Hansen conducting the funeral services. Six nephews of the deceased were pall-bearers, Jeffrey Olson, Harold Torreson, Theodore Torreson, Rufus Torreson, Chester Torreson and Jordan Sigmund. All his brothers and sisters and his aged father were present at the funeral with their families. A great host of friends and neighbors came to pay their last respect to the deceased. The choir rendered a few beautiful songs very appropriate for the occasion and Mrs. Ida Wolden sang a beautiful solo. Rev. Paulsrud of Randall brought the special greeting of thanks on behalf of the sorrowing family and relatives to all those present for their sympathy and kindness shown during the sickness and death of his brother-in-law.

It was a hard blow to the Olson family to have the husband and father go so soon but it was God’s doings and we have to bow our heads and say “Thy will be done.” May the Lord bless the sorrowing family and give them strength to carry the loss and long for a reunion in the Heavenly home above.
