Estherville – Services for Carl O. Newguard, 85, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Stan Eyberg officiating. Burial will be in the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. He died Saturday, March 23, 1985 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home, Estherville.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born May 15, 1899 in York, N.D., the son of Ole and Carrie (Paulson) Newguard. On May 7, 1935 he was united in marriage with Pearl Anderson in Estherville. He lived in Wallingford and worked for the Wallingford Creamery. In 1941 the couple moved to Estherville where he was employed by John Morrell and Company for 24 years. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Newguard, Estherville; one daughter, Phyllis Kline, Irving, Texas; two grandsons Ray Kline, Omaha, Neb., and Jeff Kline, Dallas, Texas; one brother, William Newgard, Ruby, N.D.; two nephews, Stan and Richard Egertson, Estherville, seven other nephews and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 25, 1985)
